IASTM-Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
IASTM-Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization Is a type of manual therapy that uses tools typically made of stainless steel, plastic, or other materials. These tools have various shapes and edges that are designed to be used on the skin over muscles and other soft tissues. This is done to help treat soft tissue injuries and disorders. The goal of IASTM is to increase blood flow and promote healing while breaking down scar tissue, adhesions, and fascial restrictions in muscles, tendons, and ligaments, ultimately improving movement and reducing pain.
The tools are used to apply pressure to specific areas of the body where soft tissue damage has occurred, such as muscle strains, tendonitis, or scar tissue after surgery or injury. We use a scrape technique massage, to “mobilize” the tissue in a controlled way
